Terms of service

These terms cover Privascan, an iPhone app published by 89P13. They are short, because an app with no account and no server does not need long ones.

By installing Privascan you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use it.

These terms sit alongside Apple’s

Privascan is distributed through the App Store, so Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your copy as well. Where these terms and Apple’s disagree, Apple’s govern the licence to use the app. Nothing here reduces the rights Apple’s terms give you.

What you may do with the app

Use it, on any device you own, for anything lawful — personal or commercial, no distinction. There is no seat count, no fair-use ceiling on scanning, no watermark and no page limit.

What you may not do: resell or redistribute the app itself, attempt to defeat the Pro unlock, or use it to break the law where you are.

Your documents are yours

Privascan makes no claim to anything you scan. We do not receive your documents, because the app has no server and makes no network requests — described in full on how it works and in the privacy policy.

The consequence is that we cannot recover anything for you. If you lose your device, delete the app, or forget the password you set on an encrypted PDF, that material is gone. There is no copy on our side to restore from and no password reset, because we never had either. Keep your own backups.

Pro, and how payment works

The app is free. Privascan Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase that unlocks the PDF toolkit, password-protected exports, export presets and folders. It is a one-time unlock, not a subscription: there is no renewal and no tier that expires.

Apple handles the payment, not us. The purchase runs through Apple’s in-app purchase system, Apple is the merchant of record, and we never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account. The price shown in the App Store for your country is the price you pay, taxes included where Apple applies them.

Refunds are requested from Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com, not from us. We cannot issue, refuse or reverse a refund — we have no access to the transaction. If you are an EU consumer, your statutory rights apply to the purchase and are not affected by anything here.

A purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on your other devices and after a reinstall through Restore Purchases in the app.

What we promise, and what we do not

We do not promise the app is free of defects, and we do not promise it will suit a particular purpose of yours. Scanning and OCR depend on the photograph you take; text recognition is not perfect, and you should check any result you are going to rely on.

We do not attempt to exclude liability where the law does not allow it. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, your statutory guarantees — including the legal warranty of conformity — apply in full, whatever else this page says. Outside those cases, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us, which for the free app is nothing and for Pro is the one-time price.

Beta versions

While Privascan is distributed through TestFlight, you are running pre-release software. It may lose data or behave incorrectly, and Apple collects crash and usage data from beta testers in a way you cannot opt out of. That is described on the privacy policy page. Do not put a document into a beta build if losing it would matter.

Changes

We may change these terms — to reflect a new feature, a price change or a legal requirement. The current version is always the one on this page, with its date. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it. A change never applies retroactively to a purchase you have already made.

Law and disputes

French law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a dispute before the courts of that country.

EU consumers can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
