Frequently asked

Where are my documents stored?

In Privascan’s own storage on your iPhone. Privascan has no servers, no account and no sync of its own — nothing is ever sent to us. One caveat worth knowing: iOS treats that storage like any app’s data, so if you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, your scans are included in that backup. It goes to Apple, not to us. See the privacy page for how to exclude it.

Does it work offline?

Entirely — airplane mode included. Scanning, OCR, PDF assembly and encryption never need a network, which is the simplest way to confirm the app is not sending your documents anywhere.

Is OCR really free?

Yes. On-device text recognition and searchable PDF export are free and unlimited, with no watermark.

What does Pro unlock?

PDF assembly (merge, import, reorder, extract, split, compress), password-protected exports, export presets and file-naming rules, and folders with filing suggestions. One payment of $9.99, no subscription.

I bought Pro and changed phone.

Restore purchases in Settings inside the app. The unlock is tied to your Apple ID.

I forgot a PDF password.

We cannot recover it. The password is applied on your device and never sent anywhere, which is what makes it worth having — and why a lost one is genuinely lost.

Can I get my data out?

Export any scan as PDF or image through the share sheet at any time.

Is there an Android version?

Not today. Privascan is iPhone-only.
