- Why does my text document get bigger?
- Because this rasterises. A text PDF is already a compact set of drawing instructions; turning each page into a picture of itself usually costs more than it saves. The tool shows both sizes so you can tell before keeping the result.
- Will the text still be searchable?
- No. Re-rendering replaces the text layer with pixels. If searchable text matters, compress only the scans, or keep the original.
- What settings should I use?
- 150 dpi at 60% quality is a reasonable scan; drop to 110 dpi for something meant to be read on screen. Try one and look at the two sizes before deciding.
